Working Women of Tampa Bay is joining forces with BPW Tampa for a quarterly lunch at Maggianos Little Italy at Westshore Plaza. We'll hear from the Chair of the Hillsborough County Commission, Sandy Murman. She's also one of the Founders of The Women's Exchange - a non-profit that encourages more women to take on leadership opportunities on non-profit, government and corporate boards.

About the presenter:

Sandra Murman was elected as a County Commissioner in 2010, representing District 1. She was re-elected without opposition in June 2012, and subsequently re-elected to her third term in November 2016. She was elected by her fellow commissioners as Chairman of the BOCC for 2017-18.

Commissioner Murman served Chairman of the BOCC for 2014-15, and as Vice Chairman in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2016. Prior to joining the County Commission, she completed eight years as a member of the Florida House of Representatives from 1996-2004. Representative Murman was the first Republican Woman to hold the position of Speaker Pro-Tempore in the Florida House of Representatives. As a longtime resident of Hillsborough County, Commissioner Murman has spent many hours volunteering her time as a community advocate as well as a public policy leader. She has been directly involved in more than 30 organizations that support our community and enhance the lives of children and families. Her lifetime dream was to build a children’s museum in our community so she spearheaded the Capital Campaign to raise $16 million to build the new Glazer Children’s Museum in downtown Tampa. She also served as Chair of the Board of Directors for the Museum.

Lunch includes a 3-course meal at Maggiano's at Westshore.
