La Segunda Central Bakery has served customers in Ybor City for 103 years. On July 18, this legendary family-owned business brought a taste of Ybor to South Tampa with the opening of its second location at 4015 W. Kennedy Boulevard, Suite 4.
The new, 3,082-square-foot La Segunda Bakery & Café offers seating for approximately 95 guests to enjoy breakfast and lunch seven days a week at tables, couches, a coffee bar with stools or at the 12-foot-long Community Table, which can be reserved for meetings. Outdoor, pet-friendly patio seating is also available. To accommodate today’s technology, USB charging ports are located throughout the café, including ones that are built into tables.
Known for its authentic, made from scratch recipes, one of the focal points of La Segunda Bakery & Café will be a finishing table where guests can watch expert bakers and pastry chefs prepare many of La Segunda’s signature items. The South Tampa cafe offers the same menu as the Ybor City location, including made to order Cuban sandwiches, salads, scacciata, guava and cheese turnovers, quesitos, Italian cookies, flan and other delicious favorites.
As the largest producer of Cuban bread in the world, guests will also be able to pick up freshly baked loaves of Cuban bread with La Segunda’s signature palmetto leaf on top.
“Our goal with La Segunda Bakery & Café is to bring a slice of Ybor City to South Tampa,” said Copeland More, fourth generation owner. “Guests will be able to enjoy the experience of watching our skilled bakers prepare items as they wait for their order. Or guests can just sit back and relax in our seating area while enjoying a meal or a simple cup of café con leche. We hope La Segunda Bakery & Café will be a gathering place for the community.”
