New federal legislation, signed into law in December, provides nearly $900 billion in emergency coronavirus relief to families, workers, small businesses and organizations impacted by the health crisis.

This new legislation authorizes the Small Business Administration (SBA) to approve Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans up to the $284.5 billion in allocated PPP funding.

Join Rita Lowman, President of Pilot Bank for an explainer of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and how to be prepared to apply when the applications are available.

About the Presenter:

Rita Lowman is a 40+-year banker who has blazed trails for the industry throughout her career.  Her career highlights include managing 22 acquisitions including the NationsBank/Barnett acquisition in 1997 where she was awarded the Crystal Grenade.  Rita served NationsBank/Bank of America as the State Administration Executive.  She also played an integral part as COO of C1 Bank as the company went public in 2014 and selling to Bank of the Ozarks in 2015.

Elected Chair of the 2017/2018 Florida Bankers Association, Rita was the third woman in 130 years to serve in this position.  She serves on several other boards including 2020/21 Chair of the Outback Bowl Board, Past Chair of the Board of Governors for the Center Club in Tampa and Board of Directors of the Florida School of Banking at UF, Southeastern US Cabinet of American Cancer Society, Board of Directors of the Tampa Chamber of Commerce and the Florida Aquarium.  Rita has been named the 2021 Chair of Go Red for the American Heart Association and also been named to the Dean’s Advisory Board for USFSP.  Rita is a proud member of USFWLP.

Rita serves on the American Bankers Community Council Board and the Government Relations Council.

Rita is passionate about the community and in her role, as Chair of Cattle Barons’ Ball and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, she and her team raised over $4million for the American Cancer Society.

She has had numerous articles on banking published and is a requested speaker on subjects from Successful Management to Women in the Boardroom.  Rita has been a featured speaker for the US Embassy in Mozambique, Caribbean Association of Bankers and more.  In 2014, the Florida Bankers Association honored Rita with the coveted Chairman’s Award.  The Tampa Bay Business Journal. honored Rita in 2015, 2016 and 2017 as a Power 100 Most Influential People.  In 2019 The Secured Lender Women in Finance named Rita one of the 50 Most Influential Female Bankers in the US.  She was named Business Woman of the Year (Angie’s Award) in 2018 and 2019 named by the Girl Scouts a Woman of Distinction. Most recently, Rita was named 2019 Outstanding Leader by the Tampa Chamber of Commerce and received Working Women of Tampa’s Leadership Award.

Rita’s book  From the Farm to the Boardroom:  Leadership Lessons has received excellent reviews since its December 2016 release and was named the #1 Business Book of 2017 by Richter Publishing.
