Meals on Wheels Volunteer Interest Lunch

Working Women of Tampa Bay is teaming up with Meals on Wheels of Tampa to help nourish and enrich the lives of the homebound and seniors.

During an "Volunteer Interest" lunch, learn all about MOW's mission and how you can be involved with a team of Working Women volunteers who are getting a chance to help the local community and NETWORK at the same time! Gotta love two for ones, right??? 

A hot meal will be provided during the lunch so you can experience what MOW does best! All proceeds from the lunch benefit Meals on Wheels.

Meals on Wheels of Tampa needs 68 volunteers a day to cover the 68 various routes around Tampa. Without the use of government funding we rely on volunteers to help us deliver to 750 individuals using their own time and car. We serve the entire Tampa area with the boundaries of I-75 to the east, Westchase to the west, County Line Road to the North and MacDill to the south. About a third of these routes are covered by Adopt a Route Partners. These are civic groups, rotary clubs, churches and schools whose members drive a route on a rotation basis. For example, Working Women could choose a route in Central Tampa for every Friday. Each Friday a representative of that group (or two or three) would pick up the meals, deliver the hour long route and drop off the coolers back to the site. Working Women would maintain a calendar with all available Fridays and would fill in with volunteer drivers as their schedules allow. The Adopt a Route partner program is a great way for groups to give back without the same person delivering each week. If 2-3 representatives sign up for a certain day, it will also allow for networking. Thank you for your interest!
